YJS Charitable Trust

In 2004 the Directors of Barry Stewart & Sons Ltd founded the Yvonne Jean Stewart Charitable Trust. The YJS Trust was set up in memory of Yvonne Jean Stewart, the wife of our company’s founder Barry. Over the years the Trust has supported a wide variety of charities from the British Lung Foundation, Helen Rollason Cancer Charity where we purchased a property which now acts as their Registered Office and a therapy centre, Retired Greyhound Owners Association, Zero Five Club in Thurrock, The Bobby Moore Foundation, Queens Hospital, Colchester Stroke Unit, Lupus UK and Saint Francis Hospice.

Saint Francis Hospice

Through personal experiences of the wonderful palliative care the Hospice provide, the Directors at Barry Stewart & Sons Ltd have been working closely with Saint Francis for a number of years.

Saint Francis Hospice specialises in providing care for any person, from any faith or cultural background, who have been diagnosed with a serious illness who are living in Havering, Brentwood, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge or West Essex. Saint Francis Hospice offers experienced, compassionate advice and support.

The hospice works alongside GPs, community nurses and hospital specialists to help manage pain and other difficult symptoms, with an aim for comfort, as much independence as possible, and the best possible quality of life.

The hospice team also provides care for people at the end of life, at home and at the hospice. They assess and address spiritual needs, linking in with local religious leaders and we do our best to accommodate any specific dietary requirement, custom or ritual that needs to be upheld.

Patients and the people who love them are embraced by a team of experienced professionals who are devoted to making everyone’s life the very best it can be. Their aim is that no one is afraid or in pain, and no one dies or grieves alone.

Future Youth Zone

In late 2021 the Directors were invited for a breakfast meeting to the Future Youth Zone in Porters Avenue, Dagenham. From this moment we were amazed at such a high quality facility and even more amazed by the inspirational children that visit this place. We have since committed to supporting such a great local and highly important service to our local community.

Evenings and weekends, 52 weeks a year, Future is the place for 8-19-year-olds and up to 25 years old with additional needs in East London to make friends, try new things and start their fantastic future now. Future is so much more than a youth club.

Within this wonderful facility you’ll find a dedicated team of youth workers who are committed to helping young people discover their passion and purpose and to supporting them through the challenges young people face today.
